  You don't go here for the decor.  It's plain and simple inside, but the fish offerings are DELICIOUS!!  They have your standard cod, but also oysters, catfish, and prawns.  You can order combination baskets, which I did. Buy a large drink if you consume a lot of beverage with your meals, because they charge for refills.  A small was good enough for me.
  
  Friendly staff, too.  
  
  Just my idea of fish heaven on earth.  I think I'll have all oysters next time!  YUUUUUUUM!!!
  
  I like my fish with malt vinegar and then let the vinegar soak into the fries.  If you haven't tried it, you should.

  After reading some previous reviews, I guess I'm not as picky with fish & chips as many others lol. I dig the fish & chips here; enjoyed the light crispy coating of the fish batter (albeit it is a bit bland but that's nothing some malt vinegar can't fix) and the chips are nice and crunchy. Very huge fish pieces by the way.....checked out after 1.5 pieces.
  
  Loved the friendly family business vibe here. Seems like some customers are regulars based on seeing some customer-staff interaction here and it was really sweet seeing the cashier lady going around the counter and helping out a customer when the customer dropped his walking cane.
  
  Yeah, there isn't A/C in this small place, but something tells me that them having 5 large fans blasting at once here makes me think that they actually looked into installing an actual A/C system but it can't be done for whatever reason lol.
  
  I docked a star because the interior decor could use some updating; we're talking about on-the-wall pictures that developed the murky green-yellow tint. Not really pleasing to see. This one should be an easy fix.

  Pros: The customer service is awesome! One of the workers offered my daughter some watermelon. We had the fish and calamari. The fish was good...
  
  Cons:  They do not have bathrooms that are accessible to all. You have to go outside and it's so small you won't be able to use it if you're in a wheelchair or have a stroller. Theres no air conditioner so it was super hot inside I was sweating while I was eating and it was hard to enjoy my food. The inside is really dirty. The fries were plain and the calamari did not taste fresh and was mostly batter.

  Good fresh hot fish and chips. If you go when there's a small crowd, like I did this last Friday night, the fryers are at their hottest and you get food almost too hot to bite. Lovely crispy batter, excellent flaky fish. Even the fries stand out a bit, though they're nowhere close to the best I've had. I also had a simple cole slaw, freshly prepared, that was a perfect match.
  
  This is an old-school place, and there are only booths or takeout. Takeout seems to be served in a cardboard tray, like the top of a box. We ate in. They could improve the place pretty easily by having reusable cups and forks for eat-in meals; and by offering specials that include a drink (not that there's any slowdown at the register, but to help the selection process). There are too many options that just seem the same - - simplify and give everyone's brains a break.
  
  No points off for it, but they don't have any sort of place to corral bikes. This is Old Town EG, not far from a high school. A little love for the self-transporters, eh?

  Ran across this hidden gem when I was doing some shopping in Elk Grove. The food is delicious and the customer service was great. They give you bottles of tartar sauce, ketchup, and cocktail sauce if you dine in. I got the fish and shrimp platter, which comes with 1 piece of fish, 4 large shrimp, and fries. The food was enough for 2 meals for me. I will definitely be back if I'm in the area and I highly recommend this little mom and pop shop.
